Kipsigis Girls High School is the oldest girls’ school in the South Rift region and has played a prominent role in advancing girls’ education over the years. As a long-established institution, the school has faced several challenges, including aging and inadequate infrastructure, as well as an overwhelming demand for admission beyond our current capacity.

I have had the honor of serving as the Chairman of the Board of Management since December 2011. During this period, we have made significant strides in improving the school’s infrastructure. These developments include the construction of a new laboratory complex, grading and upgrading of the playground, renovation and refurbishment of dormitories originally built in 1955, and the acquisition of a new generator. Additionally, a modern dining hall with a capacity of up to 1,200 students is currently under construction and is set to become the largest in the South Rift.

Academically, the school has also recorded notable progress. The mean score improved from 8.3 in 2010 to 9.06 in 2013. We remain committed to raising this performance further, with a target of surpassing a mean score of 11.0 in the coming years.

As a Board of Management, we are focused on the future growth and development of the school. Plans are underway to establish a modern resource center comprising a library and computer laboratory, construct a new administration block, build additional hostels, and expand classroom facilities to meet the growing student population.

These initiatives will position Kipsigis Girls High School as the school of choice in the South Rift. However, achieving this vision will require the continued support, collaboration, and goodwill of all stakeholders.
